OpenRace is a real-time virtual running app. With real-time technology, you’ll feel the magic and motivation of race day once again. The virtual race is no longer just another training day.
The Great Race has multiple dates and times (heats) for half marathon, 10K and 5K distances in which any number of participants can join. At the time of your heat, you will press play and wait for the countdown to hit 0, once it does you will begin running. During the race you will be able to get live updates on your position, pace, distance and time relative to the others in the race.
Step 1: Download “OpenRace App” from Apple App Store. Be sure you have version 1.0.4 or later.
Step 2: Create an Account.
Step 3: Go to Event Mode.
Step 4: Select the button for the Date and Time of the Great Race you wish to participate in. Press: Join the race. (See below for dates and times).
Step 5: Prior to running, go to the “Profile” tab and adjust audio notifications under Voice Announcement. During your race you will be updated on your position, pace, distance and time. Change the interval to your liking. The interval options are 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes and 5 minutes. For a 5K race, suggested interval is 2 minutes, for a 10K race, 3 minutes and for a half marathon, 5 minutes.
Step 6: Prior to running, make sure to “Allow Location," verify this by going to Settings -> OpenRace -> Location -> Always

Step 8: During the race you’ll be able to hear audio updates on your position, pace, distance and time.
Step 9: Once you’ve completed the required distance, you’ll be able to see your final results on screen, as well as a leaderboard. Congratulations!
Step 10: Your race will be saved under the Feed Tab, in which you can always go back to, to view your results.
